The New "Mosaic" line of Marbled Bengals at Zazen
The Marbled bengal pattern and coloration comes from the original Classic Blotched Tabby coloration that was brought into the bengal breed when American and
British short haired silvers were added to the breeding lines. The tabby pattern that creates this blotchy marbled effect is a recessive gene
and so kittens with marbled patterns must receive one copy of the gene for marbling from each of their parents.
Cats with marbled patterns are homogenous for that recessive gene, but often cats who are not marbled in pattern can still carry the gene and pass it on to their offspring.
During our breeding of several of our queens with our sire Dragon we have found that we have one stud (Dragon) and two queens (Wyld Honeychile and Jamaicamecrazy)
who carry this recessive gene. It is through these lines that we are working to expand our line of what we like to call "Mosaic" Bengals
- beautifully contrasted tricolor bengals with gorgeous mosaic-like patterns that run horizontally across their sides
We are particularly excited about the coloration that Dragon seems to bring such intense metallic coloration
to the kittens he produces with both Jamaica and Honey.
Zazen's Mosaic Lolita
Zazen's Mosaic Lolita is our first beautiful marble kitten and she has done very well in shows as a kitten. At the Noco Loco show in June she was awarded five
All Breed finals and many of the judges commented on the plushness of her coat and the beautiful chained rosettes running along her sides. Lolita has an incredibly plush and soft
pelt that feels like silk. Her coloration is intensely metallic glistening with golds, bronze, and copper against intense black and pure white areas. She has a pure white belly from chin to tail
and has very nice marbled spotting on her belly as well. Lolita is also a very sweet and naturally affectionate personality. We are very happy to have her as a part of our home.
She will be shown in August at the Denver Southwest Regional TICA show for her first time as a novice in the Champion class and we hope she will do well

Zazen's Mosaic Cassanova - a future stud born May 8th 2010
His mother is Wyld Honeychile (so he will carry either sepia or snow genes) and his sire is Imperial Dragon
(who has passed on his intense metallic colors in golds, bronze and copper) .
Cassanova is a very sweet boy with a long body and a nice short tail. He has very large dark green eyes and we are hoping he will grow into those ears.
Zazen's Mosaic Mr BoJangles - a seal lynx snow marbled bengal with absolutely gorgeous sky blue eyes. Mr. Bo is a very sweet tempered boy with gorgeous markings that are deepening
as he gets older. We are looking forward to showing him in the kitten class in Albuerquerque in October.
